چکیده

ABSTRACT We present the N-body simulation techniques implemented in exp code. uses empirically chosen basis functions to expand potential field of an ensemble particles. Unlike other function expansions, derived are adapted input mass distribution, enabling accurate expansion highly non-spherical objects, such as Galactic discs. measure force accuracy three models, one based on a spherical or aspherical halo, exponential disc, and bar-based disc model. find that is direct-summation tree-based calculation, some ways better, while being considerably less computationally intensive. discuss optimizing computation representation. also detail numerical improvements for performing orbit integrations, including time-steps.

Minimal partial realization from generalized orthonormal basis function expansions

A solution is presented for the problem of realizing a discrete-time LTI state-space model of minimal McMillan degree such that its :rst N expansion coe;cients in terms of generalized orthonormal basis match a given sequence. The basis considered, also known as the Hambo basis, can be viewed as a generalization of the more familiar Laguerre and two-parameter Kautz constructions, allowing genera...

Fast function-on-scalar regression with penalized basis expansions.

Regression models for functional responses and scalar predictors are often fitted by means of basis functions, with quadratic roughness penalties applied to avoid overfitting. The fitting approach described by Ramsay and Silverman in the 1990 s amounts to a penalized ordinary least squares (P-OLS) estimator of the coefficient functions. We recast this estimator as a generalized ridge regression...

Fast Multilevel Evaluation of Smooth Radial Basis Function Expansions

Abstract. Radial basis functions (RBFs) are a powerful tool for interpolating/approximating multidimensional scattered data. Notwithstanding, RBFs pose computational challenges, such as the efficient evaluation of an n-center RBF expansion at m points. A direct summation requires O(nm) operations. We present a new multilevel method whose cost is only O((n + m) ln(1/δ)), where δ is the desired a...

A general transform theory of rational orthonormal basis function expansions∗

In this paper a general transform theory is presented that underlies expansions of stable discrete-time transfer functions in terms of rational orthonormal bases. The types of bases considered are generated by cascade connections of stable all-pass functions. If the all-pass sections in such a network are all equal, this gives rise to the Hambo basis construction. In this paper a more general c...
